Steamboat Springs Resort is truly the skiing capital of the U.S. It's home to the famous champagne powder, as well as a world-class resort. Five mountain peaks stand above the Gondola Square, waiting to challenge the experts and cajole the beginners into a new love of the sport.
The Steamboat Mountain Range receives an annual average of 331 inches of powder that has 70% less moisture than normal, which mean skiers and snowboarders get the rare experience of floating on incredibly light snow, all the while surrounded by views of the beautiful Yampa Valley.
Steamboat Springs Ski Resort is closer to a major airport than any other ski resort in Colorado or Utah. Hayden Airport (HDN) is located just 22 miles from the slopes, meaning visitors can hop off the plane and start skiing immediately. From the airport, just get on Highway 40 and head east, running right into the ski area.
From Denver, Steamboat is approximately 3 hours away, heading west on I-70 to Silverthorne. Turn north onto CO-9 until you reach Hwy 40, which leads west into Steamboat Springs.
Steamboat Springs is open from late November until the middle of April, depending on snow conditions and weather.
During the ski season, lifts open at 8:30am and continue service until 4:00pm.
Steamboat Springs, Colorado Ski Resort is a full service mountain, with ski-in/ski-out hotels and condos, restaurants, cafes, shopping, spa facilities and more. There is a world-renowned ski school, Billy Kidd Performance Center, as well as childcare and lessons for all ages. Equipment rentals and services are also available.
There is much more to do at Steamboat than just ski, so be prepared! Ice climbing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, helicopter tours... you name it. Steamboat has it all!
